Mohamed Aboulghar is a professor in Cairo University Medical School. He is the co-founder and clinical director of the first IVF center in Egypt. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Middle East Fertility Society Journal. He has over a 100 scientific researches published in reputable international medical journals. He received the National Award for Scientific Excellence in 1999, the Egyptian National Award for Scientific Merit in Medical Sciences in 2016 and the Nile Award in Advanced Medical Sciences in 2023. On the international level, he received a lifetime Honorary Membership of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (Berlin 2004), Honorary membership of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) in 2000, and The Distinguished Service Medal from The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (London) in September 2018.
Aside from his scientific activity Dr. Aboulghar has wide political, social and cultural interests. He has written hundreds of articles in the Egyptian press, and he participated actively in the Egyptian January 2011 Revolution until he founded the Egyptian Social Democratic Party. Later on he was chosen as a member of the constituent Committee of the 2013 constitution.
He has written several books in Arabic on various historical, social and cultural topics, and has published his autobiography.
