Professor Samia Mohammed Al-Amoudi is a pioneering Saudi obstetrician-gynecologist and one of the region’s most influential advocates for women’s health empowerment. A two-time breast cancer survivor, she became the first Saudi woman to publicly share her diagnosis in 2006—transforming breast cancer awareness from a stigmatized subject into a national health priority.

A graduate of King Abdulaziz University and one of its first female medical alumni, Professor Al-Amoudi has held multiple senior academic and leadership roles, including Vice President for the Female Section at KAU’s Faculty of Medicine and Founder & CEO of the Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer. She also founded the Health Empowerment Initiative and has advised major national health authorities.

Her work has earned international recognition, including the U.S. Department of State’s International Women of Courage Award, honors from Susan G. Komen, the Prince Nayef Award for Distinguished Women in the Health Sector, and election as the first GCC woman to serve on the UICC Board of Directors. She has been listed among Arabian Business magazine’s Most Powerful Arabs for several consecutive years.

A prolific author and thought leader, she has written extensively on women’s health, patient rights, and cancer survivorship, including the memoir Break the Silence and Memoirs of a Saudi Woman. Her educational initiatives include the region’s first breast cancer guide in sign language.

In 2025, Professor Al-Amoudi launched the region’s first Breast Health and Cancer Survivorship Clinic, offering comprehensive, patient-centered care and advancing a holistic model of survivorship for women across the Arab world.
